half a world away - prologue

in 8 hour's time, i'll embark on a journey on a foreign land. my first time out of the country. my first time away from home for such a long time. and half a world away from home, it does get lonely. yeah i'm getting to stay with a good friend of mine for four days, after that i'll be with my relatives, most of them i really don't know. i don't know anyone else there and i'm not sure if my social skills will earn me new friends to keep me sane for three weeks.

maybe that's why i'm not keening on looking forward on this trip.

the long haul of the trip... 15 hours on a monotonous airplane ride... and double that with the way home. so that's 1 1/4 day of my life wasted in a seat.

heard that airplane food is terrible. better fill up before going.

it's going to be cold. never been to a place colder below 15 C.

haayz... anxiety. somehow i'm not excited going off to a new land. never really know what's out there and if that would be really life changing, as most of the people i know say so.

but, hey, maybe i'm just grumpy from a lack of sleep. maybe i wake up (hopefully from a sleep during a trip) a new place would be just the thing i need to brighten up my day. and it would be fitting if the sanfo sunday morning sun would do just that.

ahahaha! after so many years! i have this (again).

it's been a while since i've made one of these and maybe i have forgotten how to make flash presentations. years ago back in college, one of these in my reports draw "ooohh"s and "wooow"s from my classmates and add emotion to YFC's events. now, it's subpar, considering flash is prehistoric compared to aftereffects, maya, premier or final cut pro.

this one is particularly has a special place in my heart. aside from having spending days and weeks conceptualizing, collecting materials, and testing effects, this is my first flash avp for UPYFC's campus tour - and i think this is used for one of those alumni homecomings. and i kinda admit that it still sends that warm glow in me whenever i play this. college nostalgia.

trip

one month from now i'll embark on a journey where no man has gone before...

err... not really...

i'm already set. visas are now issued. plane tickets checked. dost clearance... err... will get there soon enough.

well, it's kind of strange that i'm not that really rearing to go. I'm not much of a travel person, and half a world away seems a bit to far away from me. and yet this journey will be a milestone for me. first time to step out of my beloved country and into a foreign land. i wonder if US / Canada would look like a grainy image just like what i've been seeing on TV?

and yet i'm not thinking about what's there, but more on what will i miss here. i'd be taking a two week's worth of pay cut boo - haven't accumulated enough paid leave credits for the trip. i'm a bit worried about the IT department that i'll be leaving for three weeks, considering by that time we've just implemented new network systems and installed the new internet provider. oh God let everything work without a glitch for just three weeks, ok?

and yeah, missing out holy week here in the philippines. well, i'm not exactly the one who is active on those days. just want to sleep, rest, reflect.

and of course i'll be missing my love.

oh well, it'll just be 3 short weeks. for all i know, i'm back here in the philippines soon enough.

lately i've been finding myself grabbing some chocolates on snack time...

for some strange reason, goya isn't able to feed my sugar rush needs at work...

sheesh... it's kinda taking a toll out of my pockets...

do i really need that sugar rush...
